Garbage

Garbage

A few weeks ago I noticed a tree growing in my basement window well. Realizing that it had taken root deeply I got out my shovel to dig it up. As I dug down into the dirt I started to uncover things that I did not know were there.

An old glass Pepsi and Mt Dew bottle, beer can, styrofoam, and a bunch of little pieces of trash and glass. All of this was under a layer of dirt and I would have never found it if that tree hadn't grown there.

It got me thinking about ourselves. How much garbage do we subject ourselves to on a daily basis, year after year, before we accept Christ as our Savior? All that garbage, trash, and useless junk collected in our minds. Then Jesus is given ownership of our lives, and despite all this, He is able to give us new life like that tree. All the junk remains, we can't get rid of our past and sin, but Christ covers it all with His blood and allows us to start anew.

Take the time to identify the junk in your life that perhaps should be let go, and ask Christ to help you live a new life.

Romans 12:2

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will."
