Time Out!

Time Out!

Have you ever tried to do too many things at once? Even if you get them done, what was the goal? Where is the priority - where is your time really going?

How about a close friend... or God? Are your talks with Him like a text message sent while finishing what you've really set out to do? Is your mind wandering during prayer time thinking of all the other things you could be doing?

In sports, when a team seems distracted from their game-plan, they call a time out - a pause from normal play - to see if a new strategy is needed or to remind themselves why they're there and get back on track. Sadly, I can't say that my priorities are always straight - Where you invest your time is a reflection of where your heart is. I often need to take a time out from routine to see if my actions reflect my goals. Do you need a time out to resent your game plan? In ten years, my kids won't remember that the dishes weren't emptied each morning, but they'll remember we had meals together as a family. Odds are, plans can be moved around to give God some undivided attention each day too. That's a priority worth your time!

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Matthew 6:19
